About Debora Hull’s Musical Journey

 

Debora Hull studied Jazz Vocals at the Hilversum Conservatory (now the Amsterdam Conservatory), where she developed a strong foundation in jazz phrasing, harmony and interpretation.

She received vocal training from renowned jazz singers Deborah Brown and Greetje Kauffeld, and studied jazz harmony and piano with Rob Madna.

Her career spans jazz, soul and blues, performing with a wide variety of bands and projects, including soul formations, a Blues Brothers band, and repertoire inspired by Aretha Franklin.

 

As a piano entertainer and vocalist, Debora traveled extensively, performing internationally in cities such as Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as across Europe — including Trondheim (Norway), Antwerp, and respected Dutch jazz venues like Jazz Club Wakker in Eemnes. She sang songs known by for example, Nina Simone, Norah Jones, Diana Krall and Amy Winehouse.

In recent years, Debora has been performing regularly on the Dutch jazz circuit, including multiple appearances at the Voorburg Jazz Festival and Voorschoten Beats & Bites.

She began her soul & jazz journey performing with musicians from the Amsterdam Conservatory. And in Voorburg with, amongst others, the Up Jazz Guitar Duo, Ron Lezer and Paul Prins.

Today, Debora Hull leads her own jazz projects, performing with a trio or custom jazz combo, carefully tailored to each venue — from intimate listening rooms to refined cocktail-hour settings — while remaining firmly rooted in the jazz tradition.

​With her extensive stage experience, international background and refined jazz sound, Debora Hull is a natural fit for jazz festivals and concert stages, alongside her ongoing performances in clubs and intimate venues.
